Last week Myrtle Shuffle posted about the Times’ venture in hyper-local blogging with two new blogs covering Fort Greene/Clinton Hill Brooklyn and Maplewood, NJ. Shuffle’s assessment appears spot on:
To read the posts, you’d think Fort Greene/Clinton Hill = Park Slope i.e. brownstoners and the stroller brigade. Puh-leeze.
One can argue that contrary to Andrew Neiman’s declaration on Brian Lehrer last week, Fort Greene/Clinton Hill is saturated with blogs. Therefore while the Times’ foray into local blogging is a great idea, what would have been super-duper fresh is to see them venture into Brooklyn areas such as East New York or Brownsville that are under-blogged, or even better, try their hands at untangling the matted helix of blogging Crown Heights.
