Turnstile I
Curated by Elizabeth Josephson
This exhibition, the first of three, presents 44 expressive and poignant paintings created by a group of talented adolescent inmates at Riker’s Island. Turnstile II and Turnstile III are collaborations between the artist/curator Elizabeth Josephson and inmates at the correctional facility. (Exhibition dates to be announced.)
The paintings will be on view throughout the summer by appointment, and during regular gallery hours from August 6 through August 22.
Reception for Turnstile I: Thursday, July 23, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Love, Life and Redemption
A theater work written, produced and directed by Setor Attipoe
Performances: Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m.
Staged Reading: Sunday at 3 p.m.

St. Johns Place on Stage X
The annual community barbecue and performance fest, now in its tenth year.
With music performed by the Haitian band Djarara, dancing by Special and the St. Johns Place Summer Dancers, plus singing, storytelling and more.

    The event produced by Setor Attipoe has been moved to August 1st and August 2nd at Five Myles performance Space, 228 St. Johns Place, Brooklyn, NY.

    The 2-day event starts at 6:30 pm on Saturday with an opening Reception.
    At 8pm the "Love, Life & Redemption" staged play goes up.

    On Sunday, August 2nd, at 3pm there is a staged reading of the play, "Through Mizan"

    At 8pm the show "Love, Life & Redemption (y todo entre medio)" (with an All-Latin cast) debuts for the first time.
