Gates Cooperative

APPLICATION AVAILABLE HERE!

From TheGatesCoop.org:

The Gates Cooperative [is] an exciting affordable homeownership opportunity in the culturally diverse Bedford-Stuyvesant community in Brooklyn. This 34-unit, newly-constructed Green Design/Energy Efficient building offers all the comforts of home with a contemporary flare! The large one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are for sale through a City-sponsored lottery process. You will be able to move into your new apartment in Spring 2009.

The Gates Cooperative is designed with many environmentally friendly features including a high efficiency boiler, additional insulation in the roof and exterior walls insulation, custom low-e aluminum windows, and occupancy light sensors in the common hallways and stairs. These enhancements will help lower overall energy costs, which will benefit you and the environment in the long run.

In light of what we heard Robert Cornegy and Mark Winston Griffith say on the city council campaign trail, we were curious if housing priority is given to local residents.  We’ve sent an email out to PACC and are waiting to hear back.

the city can do alot better by us working class folk. its that plain and that simple. housing in this city is like food in this country. we have enough to throw away, but not enough sense to serve the needy
