The Glass Shop

Earlier this year we made our maiden voyage to The Glass Shop, which at that time was a new arrival on the Crown Heights scene. As new arrivants ourselves, we appreciated the them minimalist furnishings and evolving menu. Half a year later, The Glass Shop is still going strong and as Jennifer Machiarelli’s pictures posted above reveals, they have settled in rather nicely.

As warm weather surfaced the The Glass Shop’s proprietors opened up its backyard so that patrons may have an opportunity to read or chat al fresco while enjoying their favorite beverage, pastry or one of this establishment’s divine sardine sandwiches.

Pastries are delivered daily from Joyce Cafe on nearby Vanderbilt Avenue. If you drop in at the right time in the morning you can get a scone, muffin, or delectable piece of olive oil cake practically emanating from the oven.

And of course no coffee shop is worth the effort if it doesn’t serve good coffee. As reviewer Emily D. declares on Yelp, the Glass Shop serves up a “perfect americano.” Most of the reviews we’ve read praised their coffee. In fact, the only noticeable critiques of this place is that they don’t open early or stay open late enough. Then again, it’s always best to leave ‘em wanting more.
