Area activist, writer and former congressional candidate Kevin Powell is organizing a benefit this Thursday to help earthquake survivors in Haiti.  Powell, who spearheaded similar efforts in Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath in 2005 has again enlisted prominent DJs such as Beverly Bond, DJ Spooky and Stretch Armstrong.

Thursday’s event will take place at Manhattan’s Club Element 225. E. Houston (b/w Essex St. and Ave A).  Suggested donations are $10, $20 and $100 for VIP and up.  Proceeds from this benefit will go to Doctors Without Borders and the Lambi Fund for Haiti.

This benefit begins runs from 7pm – 11pm.
