With Valentines Day approaching many of you are likely scouring to make last minute plans. Surely, the prospect of trudging into the city on a Sunday night is not ideal for a lot of us residing in the outer boroughs. Sketchy weekend train service, biting winds, and elbowing bridge and tunnel tourists emboldened by a work-free Monday for choice restaurant or theater seats does not a happy or romantic valentine make.

So why not stay local, bypass the crowds and the commute and consider these convenient alternatives to making your valentine’s day anxieties moot:

• Surprise them with flowers from Barbara’s Flowershop
• Feast on dinner for two at Crow Hill Bistro
• Partake in wine from a local wine shop or this one
• Enjoy an edible bouquet from Palaite Pleasures (which can be picked up at Super Wings)
