Just a heads up for our local foodies- I Love Franklin Avenue reports (via an article in Time Out New York) that new Dutch Boy Burger will be opening this week. Additionally, the Crown Heights News blog reports that the new pizza and wine bar, Basil, will open today. We called the restaurant to confirm, but just got a voice message. Given the Jewish Sabbath, we are curious what the days and hours of operation will be. In any event, the menu for Basil is now available on CHN’s website, so check it out.
These two new dining establishments will be added to a growing list of new restaurants that have opened in the neighborhood in the past year – including Crow Hill Bistro, Essentials Organic and Super Wings. A greater dining selection is something that area residents have been pining for for a while, so it is nice to see these entrepreneurs step up to answer the call. It also encouraging that they are spread around the different commercial strips in the neighborhood so that a broader cross section of Crown Heights residents can enjoy.
On a completely unrelated note, there are some great events happening around town this weekend that you may want to checking out – the list includes “magical storytelling” for the kids at Nairobi’s Knapsack Saturday afternoon, Launchpad’s “Pencil Party” (we hear its the place to be on Saturday evening), Franklin Park reading series on Monday – and more. Check out I Love Franklin Ave for more details.
