The tipster mills is buzzing off the hook these days. We recently received a tip from a tipster that there is some activity going on at 1423 Bedford Avenue. Some may recall that this is the site of the former Brooklyn Beverage/Beer Barn.

According to the tipster:

“I was helping a friend scope out a location for a possible new bar at 1423 Bedford on the corner of Bedford and Prospect…. I thought it would be the perfect place for a new business, and apparently someone agrees and just snatched it up! As of this week there’s a work permit on display and some drywall going up inside.”

We haven’t had a chance to do our usual snooping .. ahem … investigating, but we checked out the Dept. of Building records and confirmed that indeed there is a recent application “to erect a new medical office and modify existing mezzanine floor … No change of egress, use or occupancy.”

So let’s unpack this.  On the one hand, it’s great to hear that entrepreneurs are scoping out the neighborhood to open up new establishments.  And it’s great that places are being “snatched up” – means there is a demand.  On the other hand … a medical office? There’s already a medical office going up on Nostrand.   Hopefully that is just DOB speak, and we might expect something a bit more exciting.  We’ll see.
